Had a good phone conversation ytd,
which made me realise a number of things about myself which i prolly subconsciously knew.


anyways i realise that as independent as i get sometimes,
i needa strike a balance and thats (here's the pretty amazing part, cos its weird? idk) in not being dependent, but in letting people depend on me.


i need to find someone who i can be there for.
that's good and bad.
but it generally works for me,
cos somehow i have managed to severe the r/s between heart and mind to quite a large extent after a number of significant emotional experiences.
afterall, it has been proven to be the best thing to do anyways.


well, i'm still pretty contemplative over how i get affected by the things which happen,
and i guess knowing that there'll always be some part of myself which i will not fully understand is the beauty of it.

day oneeee (:





we reached hanoi!

all the luggage was to the same belt, which was kinda, ineffective..

but we eventually got all our tagged luggage :D





haha, then we got onto the bus, where we met our tourguide (one of them) Mr Rich!

it was about a three hour ride to the friendship village (:

the kids there are affected with agent orange.

which is a chemical used during the vietnam war.





we interacted with the kids,

and then we had the performance (:





it was really touching seeing them happy.

because they didnt need anything material to be happy.

they were happy the way they were.

so carefree, and always smiling.

they were happy, exactly the way they were.

and that was smth which made me think twice.





(okay i'm not gonna type my reflection out here...)

so after a meaningful time spent at the friendship village,

we went on another long bus ride to the restaurant where we had a vietnamese dinner,

then we bused to the train station,

where we got on the night train to Lao Cai (:





one cabin has like, four bunks,

and i slept on the upper bunk.

shared a cabin with trish, priya and miss lam (:





the ride was noisy, and we were moving all night (haha duh)

but i managed to sleep cos there was a mattress and a pillow and a very comfy comforter.

we reached Lao Cai at around 5.30am,

and it was , SO COLD.

took small vans, according to our groups to an inn at Sapa,

where we dumped our luggage.

the ride there was pretty long, and very winding,

but it was so scenic.

stopped to take photos along the way (:

we were almost above the clouds, and we hadnt reached 1900m yet (:





breakfast at the inn was yummy (:

the bread was so nice and sweeeeeet.





after breakfast, we hopped into the vans with our backpacks,

and set off for 1900m, where we were to start the climbbbbb (:

when we reached the start of Fanxipan,

boy was it freezing.

took us awhile to get used to the cold,

plus with the wind!

it was COOOOOLD.

haha, so out came the scarves and beanies.





we were each given a bamboo pole to help us with the climb,

and it really did help, esp when it got very steep.





and it was pretty tiring climbing, up and down and up and dowwwn.

the views really motivated me though.

like, everytime i got really tired,

seeing the mountains, and the green

is just so spurring.

somehow.

(maybe thats why they're called interlocking spurs? lol.)





so we kept climbing (:

the guides who helped were really awesome.

before we knew it,

we reached 2200m and stopped for a sandwich for lunch (:

sort of like, vietnamese subway!

thennn we continued climbing somemoreeee

and reached the 2800m campsite,

were we stayed for the night.





the night sky, was really filled with stars.

so many stars.

i've never seen SO MANY STARS (:

it's really beautiful,

didnt manage to capture it though...

and yea, it was so beautiful.





it was also,

super cold.

haha close to 0deg.

so we were freezing.

i had like five layers on.

so i wasnt so cold.

but my face and hands, were like, ice.

haha.





19 girls were squeezed into a 12men tent.

i had a major knee cramp.

and haha, it was so cold i didnt wanna change position.

so i woke up with an aching hip bone.





the guys tent blew off at night! haha

so thats how strong the wind was..

yeaaa.

lol.

its not the usual kind of tent.

more likeeee, a mini version of the tents used at outdoor sales (like those at ps)

yea.





andddd i will continue with day 3 tmr (:

i've finally found, what i've been looking for.


ytd's party was pretty awesome
thanks to the superawesome bunch of people who came (:
the vietnams are a great bunch to hang with, no doubt about that.
sometimes i marvel at the fact that most of us started out as strangers (:

almost everyone came,
and it was great fun.
there was SO MUCH FOOD.


the springrolls made by fatin, aleem, omar and ratna were so reminiscent of vietnam (:
so were the garlic french fries, the soya sauce (!) and all the people (duh aha)
the desserts were awesome man.
haha.
ice-cream, chocolate fondue, jelly.
super awesome.
there was so much food left seriously!
the chicken curry, pasta, macaroni and cheese - yummyyyy.


andddd there was so much food left,
it was just like in vietnam after every meal, haha.

oh, and today was like, the first time i actually, tried on smth over what i was wearing cos i was too lazy to queue at the fitting room hurrr (:

which had awesome stuff tooooo (:

and they had nicenice tunic-dresses.
buttt it was crowded and we had to go meet daddy.

we rushed through diva (i still prefer accessorize)
and then trained to dhoby gaut.
sixxx didnt have anything i really liked to the extent of using my persuasive power.

headed to springfield :D
which i dont usually shop at,
and they had awesome tees (:

i ended up getting a grey striped tee (:
with a simple black scarf graphic.

we walked around spotlight to get cloth to make new sofa covers.
and then we walked to Meridien for an awesome dinner (:

had a yummy korean beef set,

then we walked to centrepointtttt :D
haha i was too tired to check the mango there to see if they had the top i wanted (haha)
we went to the supermarket :D
and i decided on all the stuff i wanna get for the 18th :D


so for the vietnams who read my blog,
there's gonna be-
french fries with garlic (like yayyyy right!)
with mayo and ketchup- just like in ban ho (hopefully)
this pasta pie thing that my mum makes
fruits with yoghurt (like in ban ho, yo)
and from the cip grp (which is so on they made me so much happier, love you guys-hugs)
there's gonna be -
icecream,
chicken curry with french loaves,
chappatti,
snacks,
drinks!


its going to be an awesome party(to the am)

Day 1


We arrived at the airport!
and waited pretty long for out luggage, the place only had one conveyor belt for luggage..


after we collected our luggage,
we lugged our luggage to the bus and took a loooong 3 hour ride to the Frienship Village.

and okay i will continue this later, cos i want a toffeenut frapp really soon,
and before i head out to submerge myself in the story of modern art while drinking my toffeenut frapp, i need to change my bedsheet, and sort out my clothes cos my room is redefining messy at the rate its accumulating.

anyways i just found out smth and that is getting to me,
but now i'm pretty sure that the tears i'm crying are because i'm so stupid to have actually given this a second thought.
right now i am angry,
and i feel so stupid seriously.
i cant believe i told you what i did.

Lao Cai, Vietnam is beyond beautiful.


and i really thought that i'd be homesick there,
but to tell you honestly,
the trip totally made me realise how much i've changed.
vietnam was such a meaningful trip,
and i didnt want to come home, HONESTLY.
I WANTED TO STAY THERE.
AT BAN HO VILLAGE, BECAUSE EVERYTHING THERE WAS SO SIMPLE.
AND SIMPLICITY REALLY IS, BEAUTY.


the nine days, spent in Vietnam with the Vietnams (shall call everyone who went to Vietnam GCE that) were really awesome.
the most awesome this year so far.
and the excitement i had before the trip, was parallel to so many moments in the trip.

i'll just blog roughly what we did, then i'll post a day by day detailed post with photos for the nine days, starting tmr (:

Day 1
Bused to Friendship Village for 3 hours
Spent meaningful time at Friendship Village
Took the night train to Lao Cai - reached at 5am.


Day2
Put our bags at an Inn at Sapa
Had breakfast there
Bused to 1900m
Started the climb to 2200m for lunch
Continued the climb to 2800m
Stayed at 2800m for the night


Day 3
Climbed to the peak ! 3148m!

Descent to 2800m for lunch,
descent to 2200m to stay for the night


Day 4
Climbed back down to 1900m,
bused to Sapa,
bused to Ban Ho village.
Stayed at Ban Ho.


Day 5
Still at Ban Ho village
Visited the primary school there.
the children are beautiful.
Did awesome CIP after lunch
went to the HotSpring
Dinner at Ban Ho.


Day 6
Harvested tapioca
Lunch at Ban Ho
Said byeee to Ban Ho,
bused to Sapa for shopping
Long ride (4hrs plus) to Bac Ha
Stayed at Bac Ha


Day 7
Bac Ha Market in the morning!
Lunch at Bac Ha
Visited another minority village
Bused back to Lao Cai for dinner
Said bye (damn sad) to the guides
Trained back to Hanoi


Day 8
Went to a ceramics factory
Visited Halong Bay
Had a seafood lunch onboard the ship
Bused to the hotel
Dinnered out
Visited the Night Market


Day 9
Bused to the airport (3hrs)
Lunch onboard SQ165
Reached Singapore at 530pm


so yea thats roughly it (:
its so much better in detail though (:

and i realised that one of the reasons why Vietnam was so awesome was that,
i was away from everything.
nothing from Singapore dawned upon me.
I didnt think about anyone.
and thats the part that really surprised me.


i guess, yea (:
putting it aside helped.
and whilst in Vietnam,
I really discovered the meaning of happiness.
